MEX: The PMN Mobile User Experience conference

Imagine attending a very different sort of conference...MEX

MEX is the two day strategy forum for the leading minds in mobile telecoms. The next event is in London on 27th - 28th May 2008.

At the MEX conference, corporate pitches are outlawed. We bring together speakers with a genuine passion for their subject and give them a platform to share their insights. It is an event where the most experienced executives share the stage with the most innovative young talents. We create a unique environment in which everyone plays a role in setting the agenda, debating the future of mobile and learning how to put the customer at the heart of the mobile experience.

The May 2008 conference is structured around our 10 point manifesto for enhancing the mobile user experience. This is a blueprint for delivering better mobile products through a deeper understanding of customer requirements.

Some of our speakers include:

  • Carl Taylor, Director of Applications & Services, Global Technology Strategy, Hutchison Whampoa Europe
  • Cyrus Allen, Director of Customer Experience, Telstra
  • Scott Jenson, Manager for Mobile User Interface Design, Google
  • JD Moore, User Interface Designer, Nokia
  • Steve Chambers, President, Mobile & Consumer Services, Nuance
  • JoEllen Kames, Senior Manager for Experience Planning, Motorola
  • Dr Norman Lewis, Chief Strategy Officer, Wireless Grids Corporation
  • Mike Short, Vice President of R&D, O2 and Chairman of the Mobile Data Association
  • Jo Rabin, Co - founder and consultant, MobileMonday London
  • Allen Scott, General Manager, NeuStar NGM
  • Andrea Rosengren, Interaction Designer, Ocean Observations
  • Paul Adams User Experience Researcher, Google

Join us in London for two days of refreshingly different thinking on 27th and 28th May 2008. Delegate places are priced at GBP 1499. Read more...

    What's it all about?

The MEX Design Competition challenges the world's best developers, engineers and visionaries to showcase mobile products or concepts which focus on meeting the unique requirements of individual users. We believe every one of the industry’s 3 billion customers should feel their mobile user experience has been designed for them as an individual.

    The MEX Design Awards

Entries are showcased in the MEX Design Competition gallery (mobileuserexperience.com/mexdesign/), a constantly updated on-line resource where the users can view, rate and comment on the submissions. The final judging decisions will be made by an expert panel and they'll be paying close attention to the entries favoured by the voting users.

The winners will be honoured at the MEX Design Awards, an exclusive evening reception held on the opening night of the 4th annual PMN Mobile User Experience conference in London on 27th May 2008. MEX Design Awards will be presented in front of an elite audience of the top executives and leading thinkers in mobile.

Video interviews: Mobile search requires a radically different approach in the mobile environment

At the MEX 2008 conference, we’ll be looking at the user experience of mobile search from two rather different perspectives. Design Competition Entry: Mix It Up

The design of the whole program was created according to the psychology of potential users: what outfit they would have preferred, colors that would best match the context and interface that would be user-friendly overall. Design Competition Entry: My Mobile Closet

My concept has two main components. The first is a shortcode component where users are able to send an SMS (short message service) with item number to a designated shortcode # (41411 MYMC), thereby adding said item to their mobile closet for later use. The second component is the actual programmed application where users are [...]

Even if a log book exists, it is frequently forgotten and trip mileage is forgotten or fabricated/ guestimated. This is especially difficult for small businesses [...]
